A healthy world makes for a healthy home, and Regence BlueCross BlueShield and the Portland Rose Festival Foundation are working toward achieving a 'World of Wellness,' one step at a time.

That's why just four years ago Regence and the Rose Festival partnered up to start the Regence Grand Floral Walk, an exciting family fitness event that allows both recreational walkers and fitness buffs alike to celebrate a healthy lifestyle in good company -- a few hundred thousand enthusiastic fans lining the route of the Grand Floral Parade!
Since 2008, the Regence Grand Floral Walk has become known as Portland's Fitness Parade, offering participants the opportunity to strut their stuff along one of the most famous parade routes in the world. The appreciative cheers of the enthusiastic spectators lift the feet -- and the hearts -- of the walkers, long after they reach the finish line.
"Community wellness is at the heart of what we do at Regence," said Mark Ganz, Regence President and CEO. "Exercise is always more sustainable when it's done in community, and that's really what the walk represents for us. It's a fun and easy way for people to come together and showcase the importance of leading an active and healthy lifestyle. We're also proud that our efforts support The Dougy Center, an important resource in our community."
This year's Walk also showcases another aspect of Portland's community: its diversity. Regence and the Rose Festival recognize Portland is an international city, and this year's Walk will highlight the cultures of Portland's nine sister cities.
"Different people face differing health issues," said Jeff Curtis, Rose Festival CEO. "It's great that our partners at Regence want to reach out to the entire community with their message about creating a World of Wellness. We're proud to be a part of that outreach."
Through their sponsorship of the Walk, Regence has become a major supporter of Portland's Official Festival, and donates all proceeds from the walk to the Dougy Center for Grieving Children and Families and the Portland Rose Festival Foundation.
Regence is the largest nonprofit health insurer in Oregon, and for nearly 70 years the company has shared in the Rose Festival's tradition of community service by working to enhance the health and vitality of the state.
